Purpose
Each charter school board is the governing body of a publicly funded nonprofit organization with a multi-million dollar budget. The board is responsible for ensuring that the school has strong leadership, sound finances, effective fundraising, and high academic achievement.

Accountability
Charter schools are accountable for academic results and for upholding the promises made in their charters.

Instruction and Academic Programs
The role of the board in overseeing academic outcomes, structure, and purpose of the academic committee, data review and analysis, and key questions surrounding instruction and academic programs.

Special Education Training
Boards should be trained in Special Education Law, ADA, Rehabilitation Act as well as other Special Education related mandates, acts, and laws.

Ethics
How do you maintain legal and regulatory compliance? Topics such as a review of Pennsylvania Charter School Law and other applicable statutes and regulatory requirements (inclusive of the Sunshine Act and the Public Official and Employee Ethics Act) are crucial.
